Terms of use
Last updated: 4 May 2026. Pre-launch / beta. v1.
Who we are
Cookies.ie is operated by S5 Ltd (Company No. 16842049, registered in England and Wales, 20 Wenlock Road, London, N1 7GU). "We", "us", and "our" mean S5 Ltd. "You" means the visitor or user of this website.
Beta status
Cookies.ie is currently in public beta. Tools, reports, and pages may change, break, or disappear without notice. We're not running a paid product yet — when we are, separate paid-customer terms will apply on top of these.
Free tools — provided as-is
The cookie banner checker, vendor library, cookie policy generator, and fix guides are provided free of charge for general information only. They're built on our reading of the GDPR, the ePrivacy Regulations (S.I. 336/2011), and Irish DPC and EDPB guidance — but they are not legal advice. Compliance is fact-specific; if a decision matters, get qualified legal advice.
We make no warranty that the tools are accurate, complete, current, fit for any particular purpose, or uninterrupted. To the extent permitted by law, S5 Ltd is not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of, or reliance on, this website or its tools.
Reports about third-party sites
When you submit a domain to the cookie banner checker, we generate a public report based on what our scanner observes at that moment. The report describes our automated findings only — it is not a legal opinion about that site, the site's operator, or any vendor.
Reports are public and shareable. We may anonymise or aggregate report data to publish industry-level statistics (e.g. "X% of Irish retail sites had a Reject button"). We do not publish named-site rankings or "top 100" lists.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use the tools to scan a site you do not own or have permission to scan, where doing so would breach that site's terms or applicable law;
- attempt to overload, probe, or interfere with our infrastructure;
- scrape the site at a rate or volume that goes beyond ordinary human use;
- misrepresent a Cookies.ie report as an endorsement or certification.
We may rate-limit, block, or remove access if we believe these terms are being breached.
Intellectual property
The Cookies.ie name, brand, copy, design, and code are owned by S5 Ltd. The fix guides, vendor library entries, and policy generator output are licensed for you to use on your own site — copy what you need.
Links to third-party sites
We link out to vendor documentation, regulator guidance, and other external resources. We don't control those sites and aren't responsible for their content.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales, except where mandatory consumer-protection rules in your country of residence give you the right to bring proceedings elsewhere.
