Privacy

Short version

Cookies.ie is run by S5 Ltd (Company No. 16842049, registered in England and Wales, 20 Wenlock Road, London, N1 7GU). We're a Dublin-focused consent platform — it would be embarrassing to track you on this site, so we don't.

  • No analytics, tag manager, A/B tester, or session-replay tool runs on this site.
  • No advertising or marketing cookies are set when you browse.
  • No cross-site or third-party tracking is loaded by our pages.

That's also why you don't see a cookie banner here: there's nothing non-essential to consent to.

What we do collect

1. Server logs

Cloudflare and our origin server keep short-lived request logs (IP address, user agent, URL, timestamp, response status). We use these only to investigate errors, abuse, and security incidents. They are not used to profile you.

2. Error reports

When something breaks on the server, we send a short error report to Sentry so we can fix it. This includes the URL, a stack trace, and — where relevant — the IP address that hit the broken request. We do not capture form contents in error reports.

3. Cookie banner checker submissions

When you run the free cookie banner checker, we store the domain you submitted, the date and time, and the resulting report. Reports are public and shareable by anyone with the link. If you choose to enter your email to be notified when the report is ready, we store that email so we can send you the link and, occasionally, product updates you can unsubscribe from at any time.

4. Contact form / emails

If you write to us via /contact or email, we store the message and your reply-to address for as long as we need to deal with the conversation. We don't add you to any marketing list without asking.

Who else sees your data

  • Cloudflare — sits in front of every request, terminates TLS, serves cached assets.
  • Hetzner (EU) — hosts our database and long-running scanner workers.
  • uni.email — our own EU-hosted transactional email service, used to send you the report or a reply.
  • Sentry (EU region) — receives error reports as described above.
  • Stripe — only if you become a paid customer; we'll restate the data sharing in the checkout flow at that point.

We do not sell or rent personal data, ever. We don't share it with anyone outside the list above.

Your rights

Under GDPR you can ask us for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email contact@cookies.ie and we'll respond within 30 days.

If you operate a site that has a public Cookies.ie report and you'd like us to take it down, use our report-removal form — it's a faster, goodwill route that doesn't require a formal GDPR request.

If you're not happy with how we've handled your request, you can complain to the Irish Data Protection Commission (dataprotection.ie) or the UK ICO (ico.org.uk).

Changes

We're in beta and will update this page as we launch real features (paid CMP, badge, scanner). When the policy materially changes, the date at the top of the page changes too.
